Published May 10, 2005 - 15:12:18 CDT. The 35th annual Black Family Week at UC Davis will celebrate the various cultures of people of African descent with events starting Sunday and culminating with Black Family Day festival on Saturday, May 21.

Standing next to their desks, the third-grade students greeted each other in Japanese and bowed. Such scenes may be common in Japan, but this was Lauri Brodeen's classroom at Superior's Cooper Elementary School.
