The Organising Committee for the XX Olympic Winter Games – Torino 2006 (TOROC) and the French government have signed a convention for linguistic collaboration and to promote the French language. The agreement was signed by French Consul-General Odile Remik and TOROC President Valentino Castellani.

A permanent exhibition at the Petrol Pump Museum in Gänsbrunnen, near Solothurn, boasts over 250 relicts dating back to 1885. The collection includes some of the very first pumps from America, Germany and Switzerland and presents some rare art-déco examples.

Six mid-valley groups have received grants as part of a government effort to promote culture. The Linn County Cultural Coalition handed out nearly $5,000 worth of grants, according to Brian Carroll, who is head of the Linn County Parks Department and a member of the coalition.

It was revealed that there are many cultural properties, including the ruins of a Baekje fortress wall in the 22.12 million-pyeong Yeongi-Gongju area in the south of Chungcheong province where the multifunctional administrative city is to be built.
